Meaning of the Sun in Astrology
The Sun’s glyph looks like this: ☉ —a circle with a dot in its center. The Sun is just about that: owning the central spot. All planets revolve around the Sun, and this is also true for the natal chart. Every planet in astrology supports the Sun.
You can see why the Sun is the most important planet in astrology—even if it is not a planet astronomically.
In astrology, the Sun’s keywords are your inner self, creative self-expression, vitality, energy, the father and the male principle.
When you are reading a chart, pay attention to the Sun because it is SUPER important.
The Sun represents who you are, the core of your personality.
Both the sign and the house tell a lot about how you can find your purpose and what makes you truly happy. The house of the Sun represents the life areas where you want to be the best. These activities make you feel very good about yourself, boost your self-confidence and you start to shine like the Sun.
One thing you have to mention about the Sun is, however, that it needs time to bloom fully. Chances are you become more like your Sun only after your Saturn return, which is about the age 30.
A Short Glance at the Sixth House in the Natal Chart
The sixth house is primarily known as the house of health, service and routines.
This is the house of work (as in job, not as in career, which is the tenth house). You have to fulfill your duties whether you feel like doing them or not—it has to be done. These daily tasks include everything from doing your job to feeding your pet. Pets and domestic animals are part of this house, too!
All routines belong to the sixth house in astrology. This is why health is another key topic here. The best way to maintain your health is to have healthy habits. Day by day, you can do a lot for yourself and good habits pay off in the long run. (Did you know that many people with the Sun in the sixth house love physical exercise and working out?)
The sixth house has a lot in common with the zodiac sign Virgo in astrology. Because of this, Virgo is the natural sign of this house. Virgo’s planetary ruler is Mercury. If you have Mercury in the sixth house, it is in accidental dignity. This makes the planet a bit stronger, as it can operate well in its own house.
Sun in the Sixth House – Workaholism on the Horizon
So, you or someone you want to know better has the Sun in the sixth house.
The Sun in any takes on some traits of the natural sign of that house. In this case, this is Virgo. If you have your Sun in the sixth house, it is somewhat similar to a Virgo Sun. Of course, the actual sign matters a lot, but there will always be some Virgo energy to you.
The Sun is who you truly are in astrology. With the Sun in the sixth house, accomplishments and doing your work well is very important to you. You are not the one to do mediocre job. Actually, if you can’t deliver high-quality results, your self-image gets hurt.
You are a perfectionist, and you want the best of the best.
The Sun also shows the life areas where you want to excel. Your work is very important to you. A person with the Sun here knows that you have to be persistent and hard-working to achieve your goals, and they are willing to put in the work. They also have very strong wok ethics.
This placement often suggests that the person provides some kind of service, working with people. As this is also the house of health, you can find many doctors, nurses and other healthcare personnel with this position of the Sun.
This house is associated with Virgo and Mercury. Both of them are famous for their analytical thinking, reasoning and attention to detail. A person with such an important placement here is like that, too. You are organized and capable. This placement suggests that you are not just busy, you are productive. Admit it, feeling productive is one of your favorite feelings.
Efficiency is key here. With the Sun in such a practical and economical house, you hate to waste both time and energy. A person with the Sun in the sixth house always finds the way to do a task as efficiently as possible.
Why Routines Are Actually Good (at Least for You)
A person with the Sun in the sixth house finds peace in routines. As they age, habits become more and more important to them.
Routines are key for good performance. It’s not enough to train from time to time, if you want extraordinary results, you have to do extraordinary work. A person with the Sun in the sixth house instinctively knows this.
Sun in the sixth house people are likely to have a strict daily routine. They pay attention to working out, eating properly and of course, being as productive as possible.
Do you know those people who get up each day at 6 a.m. to go for a run or exercise? Do you happen to be one of them perhaps?
If you have the Sun in the sixth house, the truth is that you can benefit tremendously from sticking to a plan. This placement suggests that you feel the best when you live a healthy lifestyle. This also serves your career, as you perform the best when you are in an excellent form both mentally and physically.
However, these routines work only when you get to make them. They should be based on your real needs and goals. If a boss or some other authority person imposes a timetable on you, chances are you won’t feel good about it. You won’t be as productive as if you had the freedom to decide on what’s the best for you.
The Dangers of Too Much Work
Every placement has both a good and a bad side.
With the Sun in the sixth house in the natal chart, it’s definitely overworking.
Don’t forget that this is the house of health, too. Isn’t it interesting how intertwined they are? If you don’t like your job, your health will suffer sooner or later.
With this placement, it’s important to take good care of your health. Depending on the rest of the chart, an emphasized sixth house can mean health issues. (But for this to be the case, there are several signs in the chat, don’t worry. And it’s always up to you how you use the energies of a planet.)
The sixth house can really make you a workaholic, and this is detrimental to your body. If you spend most of your time hounched in front of your desk, health issues can arise. Is it possible that these people intuitively know this, and this is why they stick to a healthy lifestyle? We don’t know, but you can only benefit from exercise and a diet full of nutrients.
My goodness! This is so true as I can relate all what is mentioned here with my psyche. I have Sun placed in the 6th house in my natal chart. I simply can not disagree with even a single sentense. I am particularly impressed with the fact that one gets to know his Sun qualities/attributes little later in life. Although not very sure about the fact that most of the people working as health professional would be having their Sun in their 6th house as I feel when it comes to choosing a profession which in most of the cases happens by the time one still has not reached the age of thirty. Moreover, there are many other factors other than the awareness of one’s Sun qualities that are responsible for anyone to chose his profession such as the interest in the academics, the subjects one in good at, competition in the field one is contesting to be a professional etc.
Depending on the house systems, my sun shifts from 5th to 6th house. It is on the 6th using whole sign system in the sign of Capricorn with 0 degrees. While using Placidus, Koch or Equal Houses it always falls into the 5th. Im a Leo rising, so Sun rules my chart and comparing the descriptions I feel more like it belongs to the 5th. I am not that of a hardworker, I am ambitious but don’t stick to routines, don’t like to organize everything and I procrastinate almost everyday. I get distracted easily and often find myself doing something for enjoyment instead. I work creatively and have a lot of to do with communication and I love to be admired for my ideas and creative work, to be noticed. For me work is something that I don’t pay much attention, thriving to have a life outside of it. Also I have Mercury and Mars on the 5th, so that makes more sense. What do you think?
I found that when it comes to houses, equal house system provides the most insight and it is the accurate for most people.
I’m a virgo sun in the sixth house LOL.I have a pisces rising and a Sagattarius moon in 9th house. Everything seems a bot exaggerated in my chart lol😂 everything is double downing on itself hahah
I’m an Aries Sun in the 6th house. I am very hardworking, but I struggle with being organized. That’s what my last boss got on my case about. I get distracted easily and have to make myself to sit down to work. I have been trying to learn routines for the past decade and I’m approaching my late 20s. I don’t eat healthily or exercise which I want to work on if I can establish a routine and improve my cooking skills. My career is not in health, but I’m a Beauty Influencer. My Sun rules my Leo 10th house, so my career is very creative and important to me.
Aquarius Sun in the 6th house. Very hard working, always in service…but disorganized af. Can’t stick to a routine to save my life 🤣🤣. Probably the ADHD though.
