Well, Scorpios are not to be taken lightly, but if you forget about the creepy clichés, you’ll soon come to realize that we would be doomed if we were left without this beautiful zodiac sign. Ruled by Pluto, Scorpio in astrology doesn’t care about the evident. Instead, secrets and depth is her cup of tea. She is the Sorcerer of the Zodiac.
Some Data on Scorpio in Astrology
Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac. It is associated with the eighth house, the house of sex and death. It’s important to note that this is also the house of transformation and regeneration. (Knowing this, it’s no surprise that Scorpios are very resilient and have superb regeneration skills.)
Scorpio is named after the Scorpius constellation. The glyph of this sign looks like a scorpion’s tail with the sting at the end of it: ♏. Scorpio’s ruling planet is Pluto, but before Pluto’s discovery, it was ruled by Mars. Today, Mars is considered to be Scorpio’s co-ruler.
During the year, Scorpio season starts on the 23rd of October and lasts until the 21st November. It’s interesting that the Sun isn’t in Scorpius for the whole Scorpio period, it’s there only between the 23rd and 28th of November. So if you were born during these six days, think of yourself as a super Scorpionic Scorpio!
The main task of this sign is to go under the surface and find the missing pieces. Scorpio is related to the possessions of other people, too. You can find many Scorpios among tax collectors, bankeres, surgeons, psychologists, and of course, detectives.
Element and Quality of Scorpio
In astrology, each zodiac sign is a unique combination of element and modality. There are four elements: fire, earth, air and water and three modes: cardinal, fixed and mutable.
- Element: Scorpio is a water sign. (The rest of the water family are Cancer and Pisces.) These zodiac signs usually have high emotional intelligence and they know how to navigate on the waters of the subconscious. Water signs are highly intuitive, but can be irrational from time to time. These signs can offer you a shoulder to cry on and emotional support in case things get out of control in your life.
- Modality: By modality, Scorpio is a fixed sign, like Taurus, Leo and Aquarius. Fixed signs concentrate and strengthen. These signs are, following the cardinal signs, who get things started, already involved with the process and they focus on actually finishing things. They are famous for their persistence. They are disciplined and know that great results require great efforts.
- Polarity: Scorpio has feminine or yin energy. This is also referred to as passive energy in astrology.
How to Tell If Scorpio Is Strong in Your Natal Chart
All of us have Scorpio somewhere in our charts, just like Pluto and an eighth house (they share many qualities of Scorpio and handle similar life areas). But there are some planets and houses that have more influence over you then the rest.
The Sun represents your inner personality in the natal chart. If you were born in late October or November, it takes place in Scorpio, making this sign very important to you. If your Sun is in your eighth house, no matter the actual sign, it acts much like a Scorpio Sun. The natural sign of a house always blends it qualities with the actual zodiac sign of that the house in a particular chart.
If you are a Scorpio rising, you seem to embody the perfect Scorpio. If you have this sign on the cusp of your first house (aka the ascendant), it’s a big part of who you are, even though it’s not who you really are (that’s your Sun), but just the surface of your personality.
The Moon’s position also important in the natal chart. If your Moon is in Scorpio this also means that it’s in fall (so it doesn’t have access to all the resources it normally needs to operate well). The Moon represents how you feel, your needs, habits, and instincts. With the Moon in Scorpio, you have intense emotions but you don’t like to let others know about them.
Two or more (personal) planets in Scorpio make it a particularly important sign in your natal chart. The same is true if you have an active eighth house or Sun-Pluto, Moon-Pluto, Pluto-Ascendant aspects, to name a few.
Why We Love Scorpio in Astrology
When you mention Scorpio, the dangerous side of this sign comes to your mind, but there are so many good things about this sign. If you want to describe Scorpio in astrology, you are looking for the words resourceful, passionate, probing. Being so mysterious has its perks (you are super charismatic) but there are quite a few things on the negative side, too. Those born under the Scorpion often feel misunderstood. The truth is, they are craving love and someone who will get through their walls.
It’s time to shed some light on how this wonderful zodiac sign works.
Let’s start with how resourceful Scorpios are. They will find the way out in every situation. The unique Scorpionic skill set helps them find a solution no one thought of and save the day. Their investigative thinking is a great asset and enables them to solve the problems and mysteries no one else can.
Generally speaking, Scorpio in astrology comes with a scientific approach, and with their probing mind they make excellent researchers. The best of all is that, as a fixed sign, Scorpio is determined to find the truth or solution and won’t give up until they found it.
The Zodiac Sign Scorpio: Burning with Desire
It’s well known in the astrology world that Scorpio is a passionate sign. They are very intense, seductive and charismatic. It’s hard to resist a Scorpio’s magnetism, especially in a sexual way. They are so mysterious that other people become obsessed with them.
Scorpios are interested in depth. When they approach a problem, they go to the bottom of it and they have a probing mind. These natives have a kind of x-ray vision. Don’t even try to lie to or fool a Scorpio because they have a scary insight into human nature, and you have no chance to win this game.
In fact, healing is one of the main tasks in this world. Pluto, Scorpio’s ruling planet is the planet of regeneration and transformation in astrology. A native who lives the higher octave of Scorpio will find great joy in helping others and giving them tools to make their lives better. It’s about being a midwife in some way, helping people through the painful process of rebirth.

Scorpio and Violence
Scorpio is a super intense zodiac sign in astrology. It’s not easy to learn how to use all those energies you were given in a constructive way, it’s no surprise that many young Scorpios have a hard time coping with it.
They are prone to extremes, those born under this sign experience both the greatest heights and the lowest lows. But this is hard on their souls, you can see now that they weren’t given those legendary regeneration skills or nothing. They have the ability to transform into a brand new person, but this process takes time and inner resources.
This might be the reason why Scorpios are so secretive. They know that if they share these mystical experiences, most people won’t understand, and they would have to waste more energy on explaining it to those who never went through anything similar. It’s impossible to describe a Plutonic event to those who never had to face it.
The Scorpio stereotype is revengeful and jealous. You can’t deny this, but it’s important to understand why they act like that. Once you gain insight into their defense mechanism, you’ll realize that when they are hurt these destructive behaviors appear. As we al have Scorpio and Pluto in our charts and their archetypes in our soul, this is an universal human thing. In this frightening world, the majority of us suffered humiliation, and we all know how painful it is.
There is an eye-opening approach in psychology that links violent behavior to a broken self-image due to humiliation. It’s very important to realize how crucial proper communication and protecting dignity is to avoid aggression. This is not a psychology site, but I find this theory super important and a building block to a more humane future and want to share it with you. ❤️
Are Scorpios Obsessive-Compulsive?
Poor Scorpios have so many stigma attached to them.
With such a probing mind, Scorpios easily become suspicious if they smell that something isn’t right. And they have an innate talent for recognizing lies and dishonesty. If they haven’t learned how to use their abilities constructively, these tendencies will still be there and looking for an outlet. This often leads to Scorpios becoming overly suspicious and looking for potential pitfalls.
Another reason why Scorpios often have a very specific approach to life lies in their fascination with the otherworldly. There is the here and now and there is the realm of Scorpio, hidden under the surface and dissecting the mysteries of death and birth. But you can’t live your life like this, you are supposed to find the beauty in the here and now.
Obsession is connected to Pluto and Scorpio in astrology. Danger fascinates them at many levels in life. They easily become jealous – no wonder that the eighth house of the natal chart is associated with other people’s resources. Scorpios like to peep into other’s deposit box, both in a material sense and on a more abstract level. It’s the opposite of Taurus, who works hard to accumulate wealth.
Calculating and manipulative traits are also part of Scorpio’s dark side. They like to be the puppet master who directs the game without anyone noticing.
Scorpios love secrets. They are very reserved and won’t share with you what they don’t think you should know. Sometimes they come across as an enigma. They expect people to respect their privacy and boundaries.
Scorpio in Love
If you got through this far, you already know how passionate and intense Scorpios are. This is true for their relationships, too. Scorpio is the sign with the highest sex drive.
For this sign, trust is the most important. If they commit to someone and let them see their vulnerable side, they want to make sure that this person won’t hurt them.

I’m so glad that you enjoy the site, thank you for your kind words!
Could you explain this a bit?
” It’s interesting that the Sun isn’t in Scorpius for the whole Scorpio period, it’s there only between the 23rd and 28th of November. So if you were born during these six days, think of yourself as a super Scorpionic Scorpio!”
I was born in November 27th and always related more to Scorpio than Sagittarius characteristics, given that my sun is in 8th house and my Venus, Mercury, Jupiter and Pluto are also in 8th house and ruled by Scorpio.
This is hands down the best astrology sight I’ve witnessed, thank you for all that you do and for looking past stereotypical/surface level characteristics of signs. I’ve looked at your other blog posts and had to comment now because as a Scorpio (Sun, Venus & Mercury) I feel so SEEN!
